Ellen Weiss has been writing books, videos, songs, television scripts,
speeches and articles for and about children since 1972. She has also worked
as an editor for Scholastic Magazines, Xerox Education Publications,
Children's Television Workshop, HarperCollins, and Jim Henson Productions.
Her spoken-word recordings have earned one Grammy award and one Grammy
nomination; her song lyrics have won a Parents' Choice award, and her books
have won three Children's Choice awards. She has written over 200 books,
fiction and nonfiction, for children of all ages. She was a staff writer on
Nickelodeon's preschool program Eureeka's Castle, and she has written
articles about children for Parents Magazine, The Sesame Street Parents'
Newsletter, and UNICEF. She frequently collaborates with her husband, Mel
Friedman. The Disney Channel adapted one of their books, The Poof Point,
for a television movie that first aired in September 2001
